Accounts Assistant / Management Accountant Vacancy – Remote work

What are we looking for

As our nursery group continues to grow, we’re looking for a motivated and organised Accounts Assistant / Management Accountant to join our Head Office team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong accounting experience, ideally in a multi-site or service-based business, who wants to develop their skills in a friendly, flexible environment.

You will be working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. This is a remote position.

Your rate of pay will be £30,000-£38,000 a year, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all Early Years Funding Claims
  • General Data entry – attention to detail is paramount
  • Process supplier invoices, payments, and expense claims
  • Support with budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting
  • Responsible for all company utilities
  • Assist with customer invoicing and postings in relation to accounts receivable
  • Prepare and post journals, accruals, and prepayments
  • Produce monthly management reports  for multiple nursery sites
  • Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements, and balance sheet accounts
  • Assist with payroll journals and staff cost reporting
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support year-end preparation
  • Liaise with nursery managers to provide financial updates and support
  • Help improve financial systems and efficiency across sites

About You

  • AAT qualified, part-qualified (ACCA/CIMA), or qualified by experience
  • Confident in preparing management accounts and reconciliations
  • Good understanding of bookkeeping and double-entry accounting
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management
  • Clear communication skills — able to work effectively with non-financial staff
  • Friendly, proactive, and happy working alone
