Clarence House Godmanchester Preschool provides an excellent transition between nursery and school with a community feel.
Located in St Mary’s Church Hall in Chadley Lane the Preschool is a short 4 minute walk from the nursery. Situated next to the church the preschool, which also has access to the vicarage garden, is perfectly positioned for the local area and surrounding neighbourhoods. Though many of our parents come from the local area we do attract a number of commuting parents – largely down to our close proximity to the A14.
Our expert and dedicated team cares for children aged 3-3.5 up to the age 5 in our large room specifically designed to provide tailored, age and stage-appropriate activities and experiences. We also have a dedicated nursery to care for children from the age of 12 weeks and until the preschool.

Here at Clarence House Godmanchester we are particularly proud of our Ready4School activities providing the children with a stress free way to transition to school. Our garden with its all-weather play surface filled with educational activities ensures that children can be outside in all weathers.

After attending our preschool, children tend to move on to nearby schools, including St Anne’s C of E Primary School, Godmanchester Community Academy and Godmanchester Bridge Academy.
Fees, Funding & Government Support
We offer funded early education places in line with current government guidance, including 15 and 30 hours funding for eligible families.
Funded hours are applied to session fees only. We do not charge any additional fees or compulsory extras on funded sessions.
All meals and snacks are included as part of the session, meaning there are no additional charges for food.

Manager: Devon Wallwein
Devon was appointed as Pre-School Manager in September 2026, returning to the pre-school where he had previously worked earlier in his career.
With over 10 years of experience working with children, Devon brings a wealth of Early Years knowledge and experience to the team. His career has included a variety of roles within Early Years, including working as a Nursery Manager in Cambridgeshire. He completed his Early Years Teacher Training in August 2026 and achieved Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS). Alongside this, Devon holds qualifications in Paediatric First Aid, Designated Safeguarding Lead, SENCO and Food Hygiene; he also completed a wide range of professional development and early years training.
Devon is passionate about creating a welcoming, nurturing and engaging pre-school environment where every child feels safe, valued and confident to explore. He strives to know all of our children and families and to work together to make their time at pre-school a happy and memorable one.
Outside of work, Devon loves keeping active and regularly takes part in hybrid fitness races, including HYROX, DEKA and Deadly Dozen. When he is not training or racing, he enjoys spending time with his partner and her children, heading out on adventures and making plenty of memories together!
