Nursery Manager Vacancy in Cambridge – Maternity Cover, 12 months fixed-term contract

What are we looking for

Clarence House Day Nursery is a medium-sized nursery group with 15 nurseries in East Anglia and the East Midlands.

We are looking for a highly skilled Nursery Manager to oversee our Nursery in Cambridge for a fixed term of 12 months from July 1st 2026, until June 30th, 2027. This is a Maternity cover.  As Nursery Manager, you will be working closely with our Operations Manager and admin team.

You will be working 42.5 hours a week, and your rate of pay will be from £36,000/ year, depending on experience.

You must have a proactive approach and a can-do attitude, with good organisational and delegation skills. As a Nursery Manager, you will be providing professional leadership and management to the nursery team, effectively managing the day-to-day running of the nursery and ensuring the highest standards of care, education and compliance.

You need:

  • At least 1 year of previous experience as a Nursery Manager
  • Minimum of 4 years of occupational experience in a nursery setting
  • To have held a full and relevant Early Years qualification for at least 3 years
  • An unrivalled dedication to delivering exceptional childcare
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To achieve and maintain high standards of care and education
  • To effectively lead and manage the staff team, including recruitment and retention, providing day-to-day guidance, training and support to all staff
  • To ensure all policies, procedures and curricula are implemented and adhered to at all times
  • To effectively manage the budgets and occupancy levels
  • To implement an effective parent liaison programme and to be influential in developing strong links with parents.
